Outreach Group

Our aim is to connect people in Tonbridge, directly and via connections with other societies and associations, through events and education.

What will the Outreach Group do?

  • Arrange talks and visits with local children / young people / older people about Tonbridge 

  • Work with schools / education

  • Arrange meetings and maintain communication with local groups including Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council, church and sports clubs.

How does the outreach group work with local schools?

Many of the town’s schools already learn about the town, and this function is supported by Tonbridge Civic Society.

We propose to develop further resources and activities to encourage the children to think about where they live and the built environment around them through answering some simple questions such as “What is your favourite building in Tonbridge (apart from the castle)? Do you know how old it is? Why do you like it?”

This also feeds into the Future group’s work getting pupils to imagine what Tonbridge could look like in 25 years.
